This is part of my participation in an online artist group focused on the color purple. Did you know that purple is a color, but not an actual color? "Real" or spectral colors are the colors you will see in a rainbow. This perceived color occurs in nature, but as a visual or chromatic "diphthong" (my term), of the colors red and blue. These hosta blossoms are not purple, but violet, which is a spectral color. It is at the short end of the visible light spectrum, which means it is among the highest frequencies of visible light. In common usage, purple and violet are both included in the range between red and blue with purple being closest to red, are often considered as variations of one another.
